The work I do

Drawn to the sea, the sand, life and the land.

To loved ones, the sound of laughter and feelings of nostalgia.

But most of all, I’m drawn to people and capturing those fleeting moments and meaningful chapters that make them who they are.

Hi, I’m Madi. A Gold Coast family photographer here to create your visual journal.

As an adventurer myself, I’ll join you on yours, catching the smiles, looks of love and bouts of laughter as I go.

One of life’s big lessons for me has been discovering the value of being your true self.

And that’s how I want to document you and your family.

I take the heart of who you are and tell your story with photographs.

Whether it’s kitchen shenanigans, collecting seashells, riding bikes to the beach or having a picnic on the grass – I want you to be doing what it is you love, with the people you love.

“I have honestly never had a photo taken that felt so… us.”

The path that led me here

The photo album cupboard at the end of the hallway was the beating heart of my childhood home.

My sister and I would pull out the tattered-edged albums, sprawling them across the floor, spending hours at a time flicking through them while Dad would tell the stories behind each one.

I still remember the feeling of realising what it meant to be able to freeze time. To capture the most special moments we’ve lived through and relive them again by simply flicking through the pages of a book.

That feeling stayed with me through life. No matter where I was, professionally, physically or emotionally, I held onto it, letting it guide me. I never stopped preserving moments with whatever device I could get my hands on.

But photography was chucked into the hobby bucket, despite being told time and time again that my talent went way beyond that.

I spent 3 years trying to find a purpose with degrees that sounded good on paper, switching to another when one had proven to be the wrong choice. Until I realised they all were.

I think deep down I always knew they simply weren’t going to fuel that creative side of me, or the need to see, hear and tell people’s stories in my own way.

So finally my path led me right back to the beginning.

I lept, and I pursued photography full-time.

I was lucky enough to have the kind of support that allowed me to try different styles of photography. To ride each and every wave of my learning phase that pulled me in different directions.

And it made for such a strong foundation for what I know will be my life-long journey.

Because throughout those years I learnt that I didn’t need to follow certain styles or traditions, but I could make my own.

I took what I had as a child and started re-creating it for others.

Rather than forced smiles and uncomfortable posed shots, I capture fleeting moments, authentic memories and true happiness.

I capture life – and I’d love to capture yours.
